5 Advantages of Having Competition

Competing is an inherently human activity. Even in mankind’s youngest days, competition was often present, be it for the affections of a female, the most number of animals hunted, to be the leader of the tribe, etc. Countless centuries have passed, and competition is still present. For different reasons, we humans still fight against one another, but the fight is still all too familiar in every aspect of our lives. We outdo our colleagues. We outwit our classmates. We outrun our enemies. Even in the animal kingdom competition is common. It is inevitable. Because we live in a world where we don’t get everything we want, we have to fight. However, is competition good for us? Or is it an unnecessary source of animosity between fellow organisms?

Competitions in BusinessWithout the proper motivation, most humans fall into a state of lethargy and mediocrity. Competition provides us with a perfect motivation. Humans are also inherently prideful beings – beings with ambition and ego. Hence, the thought of being last is a great fear among most. Through competition man strives to be first, but to be first, he must outdo all the others, and to outdo all the others he must be better in every way. Trough the exertion of great effort, he must strive for perfection. Through competition, perfection, and efficiency, is at its closest.
