We live in a generation where everybody wants to be updated at all times, through the latest gadgets. Proven true by the universal usage of Facebook Statuses, Tweets and +1’s, general information like our current location, who we are with, where we’ll go, and, thanks to Instagram, what we are about to eat, are information that we, admit it or not, never fail to update.
On popular social media sites like Facebook and Pinterest, we have control on the information we can relay to our friends, co-worker, and acquaintances. In certain organizations, however, the management’s hands are tied on what information they can provide. These information standards are covered by the Data Protection Act. I wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t heard of the DPA before. But if you want to better understand it, consider these three important principles under the act:

What is the 3-4-5 Principle? | Luke Roxas
Advantages of Keeping a Work Journal | Luke Roxas Blog
A work journal is like a personal diary where you keep your most intimate secrets, goals, accomplishments, troubles and other worth-mentioning experiences at work. It can be anything from a paper-based scrapbook, small notebook, to an Excel spreadsheet, a Word document, or a blog. Over time, you can review your writings as you wish and learn from your past self. Through journaling, you can save these snippets of memories for future reference. In this article, we will tackle on five advantages of keeping a work journal.
Jotting down all the riots in the workplace—the good, the bad and the ugly—will help you unwind and release stress. It’s like relieving the burden off your chest to a friend that’s in you. Spilling the beans on paper and keeping those secrets to yourself will also improve your self-expression and provide more clarity to your thoughts. By writing, you are retelling and asking the why’s, what’s, how’s of how the day went. You can then plan ahead for the next days to come. By doing so, you can also sleep well and interact with your family members, friends and colleagues more positively.
Skills vs. Diploma | Luke Roxas
Nowadays, there’s more to skills than the letterhead on a piece of paper bearing one’s name and his degree. Skills are what count most in a competitive world of job interviews and line-ups. It is the stamp of approval looked upon by managers and company heads the world over. People who depend on their skills and capabilities will go a longer way than those who think that success is proportional to the quality of the school a person graduated from.
Because of the competitive nature of graduates right now, a lot of people have turned to certain workshops to hone their innate talents in their chosen field. It is right that they undergo such trainings to make them more knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest innovations. Aside from these workshops, certification tests are also offered to provide graduates the eligibility to practice their profession on a certified level. If we take a look back at the past, we’d notice how the general public placed so much value on diplomas and school connections. But times have changed, and we have evolved into an era of equal opportunity for all. Those who are the best at what they do can be recognized and rewarded, regardless of their educational background.

Pros and Cons of Having a Business Blog
To engage in a business is to get involved in the different facets of it, facets that would lead your business to a lot of good clients. For a company to satisfy customer needs, they should feature great customer service, quality products, excellent advertisements, etc. And in order to be known worldwide, some companies engage in Blogging.
Blogging can be divided into two areas: internal blogging and external blogging. Internal blogs are written to be accessed via the company’s intranet. Thus, only the employees can access it. It is usually used for meetings and forums regarding work. External blogging, on the other hand, are written for the general public. This of course includes articles and/or videos that promote the company to its target market. But just like any factor in business, blogging has its own pros and cons.

5 Advantages of Having Competition
Competing is an inherently human activity. Even in mankind’s youngest days, competition was often present, be it for the affections of a female, the most number of animals hunted, to be the leader of the tribe, etc. Countless centuries have passed, and competition is still present. For different reasons, we humans still fight against one another, but the fight is still all too familiar in every aspect of our lives. We outdo our colleagues. We outwit our classmates. We outrun our enemies. Even in the animal kingdom competition is common. It is inevitable. Because we live in a world where we don’t get everything we want, we have to fight. However, is competition good for us? Or is it an unnecessary source of animosity between fellow organisms?
Without the proper motivation, most humans fall into a state of lethargy and mediocrity. Competition provides us with a perfect motivation. Humans are also inherently prideful beings – beings with ambition and ego. Hence, the thought of being last is a great fear among most. Through competition man strives to be first, but to be first, he must outdo all the others, and to outdo all the others he must be better in every way. Trough the exertion of great effort, he must strive for perfection. Through competition, perfection, and efficiency, is at its closest.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Team Building Activities | Luke Roxas
Teamwork is essential to any group that hopes to achieve its goals. Any organization, whether it is for profit or not, needs each member to perform well within the framework of a team. Whether a team member works with others regularly or works alone most of the time, it is of utmost importance that he/she knows how to perform well as a member of a team. That’s why team building is necessary for the members to work cohesively with one another. Then again, there are a few disadvantages to team building as well. Let’s outline a few of the obvious advantages to team building and the not-so-obvious disadvantages.
ADVANTAGES
Better Assessment of Employees
Sometimes, employees can be hard to figure out when they are in the office. Team building allows the leaders to carefully examine a worker’s strengths and weaknesses in a non-threatening environment. It also gives leaders the chance to see which employees deserve their trust while evaluating their performance within a team set-up.
Great Office Interiors
Nowadays, people are getting more concerned about the architecture and design of certain places. This goes for homes, malls, museums, parks, banks and corporate offices. If you have a business that has a physical office, you should note that the interior décor of your space reflects much about the brand of your business. It shows the impression that your company wants to give to customers, affiliates and vendors.
How do you maintain elegance while showing the appropriate image in your office interiors? Setting up an office is not just about setting up the necessary office equipment and plugging them inside to be conductively used by your people. Here are four basic suggestions to improve your office interiors:
1) Aim for Neutrals
When it comes to typical companies selling products or offering services unrelated to art, fashion couture, designing, and the like, the best way to project professionalism is to paint a neutral color to your the office walls. Highly recommended colors are a pale shade of blue, light beige, light gray, white and cream. In short, use colors that match your company’s functionality. Then to add a dash of creativity, you can place framed pictures of nature, scenery or posters of working people in business attire. For the lights, just go for white light bulbs.

How Your Office Ambience Affects Working Attitude | Luke Roxas Site
I don’t know how many of us clearly remember our first day at work. Some might remember it vividly as though it happened yesterday, while others could barely remember what happened to them an hour ago, let alone a day that seems like ages ago. Still, it might be safe to assume that such a First Day is generally exciting, because everything is new – the people, the environment, the work itself. Don’t we all miss the time when we used to look forward to going to work, when we would get there early and would not mind staying a few extra minutes (or even an hour) just to finish work and get ahead? But somewhere along the line, everything slows down. Work gets dull, we get dull, and every day we have to drag ourselves in and look at the ticking clock, itching to run out the minute we can. The lights are too bright, the chair too hard, your neck too stiff, and your cubicle seems to be closing in on you, making it hard to breathe. Is it just you, or is it the place you spend eight hours or more a day getting to you?
Most employers understand the importance of having a good working environment, and they do their best to provide what they can – widescreen monitors, nice office chairs, free flowing coffee, TV in the pantry. Sometimes though, we feel there’s something off. It’s important to remember that companies have budgets to work with. So here are some of the simpler things we can consider, when we think about what contributes to a good ambience at work.

Finding Success in Food Franchising | Luke Roxas Blog
In today’s very intense competitive food franchise market, it is not by chance that some franchises have maintained superiority and market position in our tough economy. Due to the majority of customers’ meticulousness and sensitive tastes, the margin of error for food businesses is often very thin. If one looks for a fresh start in the food franchise industry, it is not easy to have that great start as the market is now very populated. For all food franchises, it is a must to have good practices to maximize success, and in this article we will take a look at 5 of them to give you that boost for long term success in the food franchising world!
1) The Food Franchise should have high quality and innovative products
This is perhaps the most basic and important tip of all in the food business world, more so if you are just about to start. Your chosen concept should deliver product superiority and quality to whatever else is currently out there. Uniqueness, taste and presentation work hand in hand to give you attention from customers. Just bring something to the table that no other organizations have. Now focus on building and endorsing that concept. How you present your business concept will also be vital; make sure to have a great marketing plan and be as creative as you can be to further lure people in, which we will talk about in more detail later. A useful tip too is to have certain promotions to go along with your operations, like using recyclable items in all of your food utensils or containers. Promote the concept of “Going Green”! This kind of gimmick can leave the impression that you need.
