Makati Hope Christian School continues to enrich its students by joining various competitions like the 2012 MTAP NCR Math Challenge, 11th Petron Philippines Super Karting Series Cadet Novice, Chess Competition sponsored by the League of Southern Manila Schools, Goldberg Olympics, DepEd Palarong Makati, POC-PSC 1st Pinoy National Games, Speedo National Long Course Championship, and Filipino-Chinese Developmental Swim League. These will lead them to increase their intellectual and physical abilities. Inter-school contests are eagerly participated by the school to develop camaraderie with other learning institutions. The 39 Inter- School Trivia Contest was won by Sabina Allen Ma and Lee Roy De Velez. Our outstanding pupils bagged the first place last September 17, 2011. Another aspiring grade schooler, Abigail Kirsten Lee (Grade 6), was awarded grand prize at a drawing competition by the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center for her Apoy, Bagyo, Kalamidad: Dibuhong Pambata.

Makati Hope Christian School with Mr. Luke Roxas as Chairman of the Board is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year. The school has been producing quality students since its creation in 1985. It opened with a number of 25 pre-school students and five teachers only. In 1986, the government has granted the school to admit nursery and kindergarten pupils. In 1989, Makati Hope Christian School located at 2312 Don Chino Roces Avenue, formerly Pasong Tamo Extension has managed to complete the elementary course. In the same year, the construction of the third and fourth floor annex was completed and the historical graduation of the first batch of Grade 6 students happened. Ms. Ruby Yao was appointed as Principal in 1991. 1993 was the year when the granting of government recognition from first to fourth years of general secondary course. Makati Hope Christian School aims to improve and develop internally and externally every year. Constructions were annually performed for the betterment of the learning institution. In 1992, the new Physics and Chemistry laboratory was built. After two years, the fourth floor classrooms were finished.
A number of extracurricular activities were also done for the enhancement of Makati Hope Christian School students. The First Spring Concert was produced in 1997. The Face of the Year Pageant was launched the following year. It was a charity fund raising event organized by the students. In the same year, the maiden issue of Candle Pen, the school’s official newsletter, was published. Makati Hope Christian School aids its students to be socially responsible and genuinely cooperative inside the environment they are living in.

BSA Twin Towers, located at St. Francis Square Ortigas Center, is now officially the Tallest Twin Towers in thePhilippines. This recognition was given by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Chicago, USA (CTBUH). With a height of 215.75 meters, there is no doubt that this 55-storey residential/commercial condominium stands out among the rest. The signage inauguration of BSA Twin Towers was attended by VIPs including Mr. Timothy Johnson (Chairman of CTBUH), Mr. Luke Roxas (President of St. Francis Square Group of Companies and Developer of the building), Architect Felino Palafox Jr. (Country Representative of CTBUH), and Arch. Rogelio Villarosa (Principal Architect of the building). Mr. Villarosa has pioneered various projects under the St. Francis Square Group of Companies. These are Asian Mansion I, BSA Mansion, BSA Tower, BSA Suites, Asian Mansion II, Prince Plaza II, and BSA Mansion.
The unveiling ceremony was also witnessed by a lot of people. Television networks were also invited to cover this significant moment. Crews from Studio 23, ANC, Umagang kay Ganda, Unang Hirit, and DZMM Teleradyo came to observe the event. Television stations have started setting up their video equipment an hour before the formal ceremony starts.

Last year, Love China Fellowship and U-Turn celebrated a wonderful Christmas Party together. These religious organizations were headed by Mr. Luke Roxas. The feast was held on December 24, 2011 at the Makati Hope Fellowship Chapel which is located at 2312 Don Chino Roces Avenue formerly Pasong Tamo Extension.
The Holiday party has the Oriental Theme. Guests were encouraged to wear their best oriental costumes during the night. The hosts even wore beautiful and bright colored dresses suitable for the cheerful occasion. The festive celebration started at 5:30 in the afternoon. Participants gathered to register their names as their registration comes with a chance of winning great prizes prepared by the party’s organizers. Over 400 guests including students and teachers from Makati Hope Christian School and members of Love China Fellowship and U-Turn came to have an awesome night with their friends and families. An inspirational message from Mr. Luke Roxas was given at the beginning of the festivity. He chose to delve his brief preach to Psalm 49:10. Psalm 49:10 states that: For all can see the wise men die, that the foolish and the senseless also perish leaving their wealth to others. The basic reflection of this passage is that people should not refuse death as death signifies an eternal life. Death is the parting of the soul and the physical body. Death is just the beginning of everlasting happiness and people should not fear it.

The institution aims to teach students to become champions in their chosen fields. Sports enthusiasts from MHCS stood out as they rise as victors to various sporting events in the country. Swimming champion Joshua Benzi Ong Yang grabbed a number of medals from the PSC-POC 1st P-Noy National Games held last May 24-26, 2011 at Pa-naad, Bacolod City. He won 2 silvers for the 50 meter Butterfly and the 100 meter Backstroke. He also grabbed recognition by winning at the Speedo National Long Course Championship (1 silver, 3 bronze), Filipino- Chinese Developmental Swim League Series 1 and 2 (5 golds, 2 silvers), and League of Southern Manila Schools (1 gold, 2 silvers). Vanz Gabriel Goh, a grade 4 student, showed off his talent during the Filipino-Chinese Developmental Swim League by winning a bronze medal at the 50 meter Breast Stroke and two silver medals for the 50 meter Backstroke and Freestyle.

A total of 120 Love China Fellowship members attended the conference, which was filled with fun and meaningful activities for strengthening their fellowship through worship, teambuilding, soul searching, and celebrating the New Year. Guest speaker Fan Da Ling facilitated the preaching during the said event, and most of the seminars talked about God’s words and how one can relate to the topics in the Holy Bible. Some members of the fellowship also had their family members from China with them during the conference, which made their Christmas season and New Year celebration even happier and more complete. Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is a Filipino professional boxer and a politician.
